We Made it to the Starting Line!

We're all a little weird and Life's a little weird

And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,

We join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it

"Love"

-Dr. Seuss

While our wedding on December 10th felt a bit like the END of a race (due to all of the details, planning, and preparation that went into it), David and I recognize that in reality it is the starting line of our next adventure: marriage! From the beginning, our journey together has been rather unique and unconventional, and I feel that we've been on quite an adventure already. We've certainly learned that cross-cultural relationships are never boring!

Yet, even while we look back with wonder, thankfulness, and sometimes relief in seeing what God has done in our couple so far, we are now looking forward with great hope and expectation to the future!

David and I were very blessed with the opportunity to spend our honeymoon on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, and already we started to see the hand of God in the details of our married life. From small things (e.g., randomly discovering a local church to attend on Sunday morning) to bigger things (e.g., not having to pay a $900 fine related to our rental car), the Lord was faithful to us, and we had a blast growing together and enjoying the start of our married life!

We returned to Switzerland in time for Christmas, and spent the holiday with the Therisod family. We will be staying here for the next 2.5 months, during which time I will be studying French (through immersion and one-on-one tutoring), David will hopefully be working (he just had an interview with a temp agency, the director of which actually said there could be the possibility for ME to work as a nurse!), and we will be preparing for our Swiss wedding celebration on March 4th. And then, mid-March, we will be moving to Joliette, Quebec to work with King's Kids, YWAM there.

Phew!

We will write more about Canada and "the future" at another time, but I just wanted to post this brief message to share the joy of our new marriage, and the excitement we feel for what is to come!

"Haven't you read," [Jesus] replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

Matthew 19:4-6
