Look to the Stars

"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place..."

Psalm 8,3

As I stood on our balcony last night and looked up at the stars, I was struck once again by the reality of my insignificance - and I wondered why? Why has God loved me ? Why has He been so faithful to me and my family ? Why has he entrusted me with a child ? Why has he provided for me ? Why does He speak to me, such a small person in a small world full of small people ? Why ?

Then He gently replied, without reason or explanation, and simply said "I love you. If I made all of these stars from nothing, imagine what I can do with you !"

Whether or not we fully understand the "Why?" of all that God does, we can trust in His awesomeness, His creativity, His sovereignty, and His goodness. Something so beautiful as the heavenly hosts must have been made by an even more beautiful heart. So, as we move forward through this summer, I will look to the stars and remember my insignificance, but also my significance in Christ. I will remember the Creator who made me, loves me, died for me, and goes before me in all of life. And this will be my inspiration. I want everyone to know my God !

Update from the Therisod family:

Provision Compassion: David and I have now been working at a local food bank and thrift store ministry for three weeks, serving two full days each week. While the ministry is actively serving the community through providing for the physical needs of local residents, the heart of the ministry is to share the gospel, and we take every opportunity we are given to share and pray with the people we serve. God has opened doors for great conversations, and we are slowly but surely making a stronger connection with the team of volunteers that work there and the regular "customers" who come.

Anne-Sophie: Our landlord's sixteen-year-old daughter comes over to our house 2-3 times per week to speak English with us and receive tutoring. While she was somewhat distanced at first, it's easy to see the ice melting as we become more comfortable with one another, and I truly enjoy spending those hours with her ! And, while I do care about her progress in English, I care more about her heart and I pray that God will open doors for us to share His love and gospel with her. This is also a wonderful way for us to connect with and invest in the community here !

Le Français: I am continuing to work as much as possible on the French language. Some weeks I spend more time studying books, other I have more opportunities for conversation, and overall I can see the progress, even if it seems slow at times. My respect for overseas missionaries who must learn a new language has grown immensely through facing this challenge ! Thank you all for your prayers for me.

Worship: David and I led worship for the first time at our church two weeks ago, and we will be leading once again at the end of the month. Worship is something very close to both of our hearts, and it is a gift for us to be able to use that passion in ministry, leading our Christian family into the Lord's presence ! Hopefully this will be something we can continue doing throughout our time in Quebec !

New Jersey: We just returned from a week-long trip to New Jersey, where we helped organize and lead various aspects of a youth camp for Pastor's and missionaries' kids. Part of our responsibility was helping run a food packing event, where the youth were able to package a highly-nutritious meal product that will then be brought by a ministry team to the people of Haiti. We were able to pack 29,808 meals over three hours, and it was a blast to work with the youth in order to bless the nations ! Our other role was leading team-building activities for the young people, helping them learn about the importance of communication, attitude, and working together in the body of Christ ! We had an incredible time, and it was a blessing for David and I to be able to work with my family (my dad, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew were also a part of the team).

Petite Cuillère: David and I have agreed to perform once a month at the Petite Cuillère ministry, something that gives us a musical outlet and allows us to connect with the community of Joliette in a significant way ! We love being able to sing for the guests who come, and then having the opportunity to eat with them and have life-giving conversations together. God is working through that ministry, which has now begun hosting weekly Bible studies for those who have decided to follow Christ and would like to grow in their faith !

Thank you for your continued prayers ! Current requests:

1. Continued health of baby T ! 2. That David and I would be able to take more time together to pray and study Scripture.

3. Daily time management. 4. That the joy of the Lord would truly be our strength !
