Far Better Things...

There are far, far better things that lay ahead than any we leave behind.

2018 ! We look back at 2017 with gratefulness and we look forward with great expectation to what the new year holds for us as individuals, a couple, a family and a ministry. Although time technically continues in the same way at the start of a year as it does smack-dab in the middle, there is something about the transition from one year to another that brings a sense of newness, of opportunity, like erasing the writing on a blackboard or restarting a computer; it feels like a second chance and an opportunity to reflect on where we are and what we are doing. The new year brings renewed energy and motivation. The goal thereafter is to not let that energy dissipate or fade, but to maintain a fresh perspective and approach to life throughout the year. Praise God for the eternal hope that we have to keep moving forward; for His grace that covers our mistakes and allows us to try again; and for His Spirit who gives us strength and joy beyond our imagination with which we get to live the great adventure of life !
We closed out the year 2017 with the Boyum family in Minnesota, celebrating Christmas and the New Year, eating lots of good food, drinking good wine, and enjoying family time ! (Most of our pictures in this post are from our time in the United States during Christmas vacation...and lots of pictures of Jude of course ! :-) We will include more ministry pictures in future posts !).
David, Jude and I have many things to look forward to this year, in Canada and abroad. Here are a couple highlights of the coming year:
Growth of the Chez Daveli couples ministry (we anticipate serving 1-2 couples per week)
Continued serving with Provision Compassion
Continued music ministry with our church and LaPetite Cuillère
March 13th: one year anniversary of our arrival in Canada !
May/June voyage to Switzerland for one month to participate in a RescueNet training taking place in Wiler. David has been invited as a staff member, Elise as a student, and Jude as a mascot ;-) We will write more details about this in a later post.
July outreach with our team (Mexico, here we come!)
While there are many exciting events to look FORWARD to in this year, we don't want the anticipation of those things to detract from the present and distract us from the opportunities that God is putting before us TODAY. We meet people each and every day who are trying to make sense of life and who are looking for purpose and hope. As people who know the One True Hope, how can we not reach out to them ? May God open each of our eyes and hearts, and may He fill us with a sense of urgency and compassion that moves us to action !
Prayer requests:
The transition from family time during the holidays back to working Canada is not easy, and we would appreciate prayer against discouragement
Prayer for the continued healthy development of our little dude, Mr. Jude !
I often face doubts and discouragement related to my grasp of the French language. David is very good at encouraging me, but I would appreciate prayer that I would have grace with myself in this area.
Prayer for continued bonding and unity within our team.
